British banker charged with gruesome Hong Kong murders: What we know about Rurik Jutting

British banker Rurik Jutting has appeared in court in connection with the gruesome murders of two women in Hong Kong.

The 29-year-old recently quit his job at as an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

A LinkedIn profile in his name shows that he moved to Hong Kong in July 2013 and suggests he had also previously worked for Barclays in London.

He grew up in Surrey and attended the Winchester College private school before studying history at Cambridge University.

On October 15th he changed his Facebook profile picture to this photograph of his balcony - the same balcony where one of the bodies was found hidden in a suitcase.

He also posted a screengrab of a Guardian article which said that 29 - his age - was the "perfect age" and another of a Daily Mail article which said that the growing wealth of Asian nations was making people happier.

On Saturday he called police to the 31st-floor flat in an apartment block popular with wealthy expatriates.

There they made their grim discovery.

As he left Merrill Lynch, he had set up an automated out-of-office email which read:

The South China Morning Post said police had found a small amount of cocaine in Jutting's apartment and locals told The Times that there was a significant cocaine culture among expatriate bankers in Hong Kong.
