Obamas hand out treats at White House Halloween party
In costumes that looked remarkably like their everyday clothes, President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama handed out chocolate and cookies to thousands at a White House Halloween event on Friday.
Making up the guest list was an array of miniture superheroes, princesses, pirates, soldiers and a whole host of other costumed characters. One adult dressed as the Tin Man from 'The Wizard of Oz' caught the President's eye.
At least 4,500 people were expected to attend the bash at the White House, including children from military families and schools from the region.
Classic spooky songs 'The Monster Mash' and and the 'Addams Family' theme tune were played as the guests lined up on the South Lawn driveway for their treats.

The White House was decorated with huge inflatable pumpkins, supporting 200 hand-carved specimens that dotted the presidential lawn as dancers performed.
Earlier in the day during an economic speech at Rhode Island College, Mr. Obama joked that he would be cutting his address short in order to return to Washington for Halloween at the White House.
“I’ve got to get back and trick-or-treat tonight with Michelle,” he said. “A good thing about being president is we never run out of presidential M&Ms. And so we’re going to be giving those out.”
