Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini confirms David Silva will miss three weeks with ligament injury
Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed midfielder David Silva is nursing a ligament injury and will be out of action for at least three weeks.
Without a win in three games, the reigning Premier League champions are struggling for form and Silva has been one of the few players to stand out for them in recent weeks.
The Spanish international scored a wonderful solo goal at Upton Park in a match the Citizens lost to West Ham, and will not feature in this weekend's Manchester derby.
He played just nine minutes before being forced off with the injury during Wednesday evening's League Cup defeat against Newcastle.
"David has a problem with his ligament," Pellegrini confirmed. "Maybe he will be out for around three weeks."
City are four points better off than their Manchester rivals heading into Sunday's derby at the Etihad, and Pellegrini is unbeaten against the Red Devils since taking over in the summer of 2013.
