Woman who secretly filmed scale of harassment she faced on New York City streets receives rape threats

A woman who secretly filmed the scale of harassment she faced while walking the streets of New York has been sent rape threats.

Shoshana Roberts, 24, said she was "catcalled" hundreds of times, while walking silently through Manhattan wearing jeans and a plain t-shirt over a 10-hour period.

Ms Roberts friend Rob Bliss filmed the footage on two cameras strapped to his backpack.

Dozens of men can be seen attempting to speak to Roberts, with unwanted comments including: "What's up beautiful?", God bless you mami" and "smile".

Hollaback!, a charity campaigning to end street harassment, said Ms Roberts is now being threatened with rape after the video gained over one million views.

In the video, one man said: "Someone's acknowledging you for being beautiful - you should acknowledge them more."

Others followed her for several minutes while many others whistled, winked and "undressed her with their eyes".
