UEFA president Michel Platini is embroiled in a row with the Confederation of African Football about Ebola and the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF accused Platini of interfering after he questioned their decision not to postpone the African Cup of Nations, a football tournament due to take place in Morocco between January 17th and February 8th 2015.

There is concern about the event going ahead because of the 4,500 casualties who have died since the Ebola outbreak in West Africa earlier this year.

Platini has written a letter to CAF denying their accusations and demanding they offer a retraction and full apology.

Hosts Morocco submitted a proposal to postpone the tournament two weeks ago amid fears about the virus spreading further, but CAF have no intention of accepting their request.

Instead, the governing body has approached five other countries, including Ghana and South Africa, about the possibility of hosting in Morocco's absence.

When Platini was asked about the situation on TV last weekend, his comments were viewed as interference by CAF president Issa Hayatou.

Clarifying his position on the matter in a letter on Wednesday, Platini wrote:

"It is for Mr Hayatou [CAF president] to decide on the question of postponement. Public health has to take priority, but it is up to them [Mr Hayatou and CAF] to decide what to do."

Morocco and CAF officials are due to meet to discuss the matter further on November 3rd.
