Oscar Pistorius faces first night in prison after five year sentence for manslaughter of Reeva Steenkamp
Oscar Pistorius is facing his first night in prison after being sentenced to five years for the manslaughter of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
ITV News Africa Correspondent Rohit Kachroo reports:
Pistorius is expected to spend 10-months of his sentence behind bars before serving the rest of his sentence on house arrest.
The Pistorius family have said that they do not intend to appeal the sentence saying they "accept" the tariff.
The prosecution have not yet confirmed if they will appeal the sentence or not.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) confirmed that Pistorius will be ineligible to compete in any Paralympic events for the duration of his five year prison sentence, even if some of it is served under house arrest.
