Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska was attacked on the streets of Glasgow by a fellow professional, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Police were called to the scene in the early hours of Monday morning near Ashton Lane, where former Celtic manager Neil Lennon was bottled by sectarian thugs in 2008.

Zaluska was attacked while walking towards a taxi during an evening out with his partner, and while it's unclear how serious his injuries are, he is known to have sustained a head injury and loss of blood.

Another two footballers who were present have also been questioned by police.

A police statement confirmed:

"Police Scotland are investigating a report of an alleged assault on a 32-year-old male in Ashton Lane, in the west end of Glasgow, in the early hours of Monday morning.

"Police inquiries are ongoing, including the monitoring of CCTV."
