Alopecia sufferers dare to bare for charity

Eleven women suffering from alopecia have posed nude for a calendar to raise funds to right the hair loss disease and prove bald is beautiful.

Inspired by Calendar Girls, the ladies set out to raise money for Alopecia UK by creating their calendar, "Pretty Bald"

No one know what exactly cause alopecia, but 1.2 million men and women in the UK are effected by the disease, which makes their hair fall out.

It is caused when the immune system, which normally attacks the cause of an infection, instead attacks the hair follicles.

Doctors are stumped as to why this happens, but it is believe influenced including stress, genetics or other autoimmune conditions such as thyroid disease or diabetes can trigger alopecia.

Eight of the stars of Pretty Bald stopped by Good Morning Britain to explain why they put the calendar together.

The calendar went on sale in September, and has sold all over the world.

The group have far outdone their initial target of £2000, and have already raised £5000.
