David Walliams drops in to school to share his love of books
Children's author David Walliams read to a very excited assembly at Sacred Heart Primary School in Battersea as part of a campaign to get more children to pick up a book.
David visited the London primary school as part of Good Morning Britain's campaign to get parents reading to their children for 10 minutes every day.
David said it was "really important" to find books children genuinely enjoyed because if it felt "too much like school work", youngsters would miss out on the joy of reading.
Speaking of his own love of books, David fondly recalled his favourite childhood book:
Research released yesterday revealed around 1.5 million children will leave primary school unable to "read well" by 2025 if urgent action is not taken to tackle the issue.
