Stunning Northern Lights filmed from space by International Space Station
Stunning timelapse footage of the Northern Lights filmed from the International Space Station has been released.
Photographs taken on July 23 show an intense green light surrounding the space station.
The 'Aurora borealis' phenomenon is caused by collisions between electrically charged particles from the Sun that enter the Earth's atmosphere.
"We flew right through a massive aurora after last week's solar mass ejection," astronaut Alexander Gerst said.
