Dog wins mayoral election in US town
A dog has been voted in as mayor of a small American town after winning an election "by a landslide".
Duke, a seven-year-old Great Pyrenees, ran a laid-back election campaign in Cormorant, Minnesota and romped to victory without the need to hound voters.
He beat off competition from human candidates including shop owner Richard Sherbrook.
"Poor Richard Sherbrook that owns the Cormorant Store, he didn’t even have half as many votes as Duke did," Cormorant resident Tricia Maloney revealed to WDAY6.
There are 12 people living in Cormorant, all of whom paid a dollar each to vote in the five-week mayoral election.
Duke, who residents said enjoys going to the pub and eating burger and chips, will be paid his salary in food.
