Mexican man dies after posing for selfie with loaded gun

A Mexican man has died after accidentally shooting himself while posing for a selfie, according to local media reports.

Oscar Otero Aguilar, 21, had reportedly been drinking with friends in the capital, Mexico City, when the incident took place.

A neighbour said he called the police after hearing a gunshot and a scream.

Aguilar was apparently still alive when emergency workers arrived but died from his injuries while in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

One of his housemates, Omar Abner Campos Vives, was arrested after the incident, while another housemate known only as 'El Paco', left the scene before officers arrived.

Campos Vives is said to have told police Aguilar had been playing with the gun, not realising it was loaded, when it went off.

Mexico's Ministry of Public Security issued a statement saying Aguilar had been intending to upload the picture of himself with the gun to his Facebook page.
