8-inch monster dragonfly found in Buckinghamshire living room

A mother from Berkshire says she was "terrified" to discover an 8-inch dragonfly buzzing around her living room.

Rowena Wilkinson, 53, was alerted to the beast when she heard her daughter's piercing scream.

She she ran in to her front room to find the enormous insect "spiralling round very quickly".

“It sounded like a mini helicopter - it was that noisy," she said.

"It was like a Jurassic monster. I didn’t know whether to take a photograph or run but I managed to get close enough to take a few pictures.

"We waited for it to stop a bit and then I had to put my arm through the venetian blinds to open the window so it could get out."

Rowena said she left the window open and shut the door as the pair exited the room.

The creature is believed to have flown away and has not been seen since.

"The whole thing was mental," she concluded.
