Emma Watson has landed her first graduate job as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Women.

The Harry Potter star graduated from Brown University in May this year after deferring some semesters to concentrate on her acting career.

Watson had already been promoting girls education in countries such as Bangladesh and Zambia, before she was offered the UN job.

However, the star said she "could not imagine an opportunity more exciting" than working with the UN on gender equality, as women's rights "are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life."

Her new boss, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, praised Watson for her "passion and intellect".
