Liverpool's Luis Suarez poses with banana in anti-racism campaign
Liverpool Football Club's striker Luis Suarez has waded into the banana race by posting a photo of himself with teammate Philipe Coutinho on Twitter along with the hashtag #saynotoracism.
Hours after Suarez was crowned PFA footballer of the year, the duo posted the picture online, apparently in response to an incident in the Spanish league over the weekend.
A global anti-racism protest was sparked by FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves eating a banana that was thrown at him during Sunday's match at Villareal.
Suarez was banned for eight matches after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in 2011.
Other footballers have supported Dani Alves actions during the match in La Liga.
