Classic Corvette destroyed after sinkhole plunge
One of the last "great" Corvettes has been destroyed after plummeting 40 feet down a sinkhole at a Kentucky car museum.
The 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette was pulled from the sinkhole this week and was one of eight collector Corvettes that were swallowed on February 12.
The final car had been buried beneath dirt and rocks, Katie Frassinelli, marketing and communications manager at the National Corvette Museum, said.
Some of the cars at the museum were spared major damage, including a 2009 ZR1 "Blue Devil" that landed on its wheels, while others were covered with rubble.
