Skydiver rescued mid-air after being knocked unconscious in freak accident
The terrifying moment an unconscious skydiver plummeted towards the ground after jumping from a plane at 12,500 ft has been caught on camera.
James Lee, 25, was knocked out after another skydiver's shin impacted on the back of his helmet moments after jumping from the plane at a skydiving site in Wiltshire.
After realising the severity of the situation, two fellow skydivers raced to Mr Lee's aid and saved his life by pulling the cords of his parachute. Footage captured on the skydiver's head camera showed the extraordinary incident.
Other members of the team are seen giving hand signals to James Lee,
After Mr Lee failed to respond, two divers managed to grab hold of the 25-year-old to correct his body position before deploying his main parachute.
After being stabilised by his friends, Lee began to regain consciousness as he neared the ground before landing safely with no memory of the near-death experience.
Mr Lee, who has been skydiving for five years, was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a head injury after the incident.
"One of the skydivers who left the plane through the door came out unstable and went into a spin," he told the Daily Mail.
"They were falling faster than I was and their shin impacted the back of my helmet with a lot of force, knocking me out.
"I am now tumbling through the air uncontrollably and two other skydivers realised something was wrong.
"They chased after me and fortunately I roll into a more stable position - still quickly drifting in the sky."
The experienced skydiver added that his mother and girlfriend were more relieved than he was.
Mr Lee insists the drama accident has not put him off the extreme sport.
