Grown Ups 2 leads Razzies nominations for worst films

Adam Sandler's comedy offering Grown Ups 2 has dominated this year's Razzie Awards nominations.

It came away with eight nominations - including Worst Picture and Worst Actor - for the annual event which hands out gongs for cinematic ignobility.

The Will and Jaden smith vehicle After Earth, a futuristic post-apocalyptic tale of a father and his son, was not far behind with six nods for the anti-Oscars.

The winners of the 34th annual Razzie Awards will be announced on March 1 - the eve of the Academy Awards.

Comedy actor Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas also earned six nominations for the Golden Raspberry statuette, alongside Movie 43 - a series of interconnected short films about a washed-up producer.

The four films will be vying for the Worst Picture award along with big-budget under-performer The Lone Ranger which garnered five nominations, including Worst Actor for Johnny Depp.

"The list includes several 'repeat offenders,' returning for more pie-in-the-face/light-hearted joshing from the only folks whose statuette no one wants to win," the event's organisers said in a statement.

Previous Razzie winner Sandler is back again in the Worst Actor category, which also includes Ashton Kutcher for the Steve Jobs biopic Jobs and Sylvester Stallone, nominated for three films - Bullet to the Head, Escape Plan and Grudge Match.

Academy Award winner Halle Berry has landed a Worst Actress nomination for two films - thriller The Call and Movie 43. She will be competing against double-Oscar nominee Naomi Watts, who was nominated for the biopic Diana and also Movie 43.

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan's acting comeback has also been panned by the awards, with Lohan receiving a Worst Actress nomination for The Canyons, two Worst Supporting Actress nods for InAPPropriate Adult and Scary Movie 5 and Worst Screen Combo for teaming up with Charlie Sheen in Scary Movie 5.

This year's award winners will be chosen by 750 members of the Golden Raspberry Foundation and votes from 62,000 users of the film review website Rotten Tomatoes.

At last year's awards ceremony, the final film in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, swept the board with seven Razzies, including Worst Movie.
