The Somerset village of Muchelney has become an island after storms battered the south-west of the UK.

For the past week people have only been able to enter and leave the village by boat. Today rescue and volunteer boats were used to bring much-needed supplies to the stranded families.

ITV News Correspondent Dan Rivers joined the boats heading to the Somerset village with much-needed supplies:

Resident Alastair Mullineux said the arrival of the supplies, including medication, was "splendid" and "crucial to the village" as supplies, he says, were running low.

He added that the village had become an island because of flooding, with boats the only mode of transport in or out.
