A man has completed his attempt to become the first person to swim the length of Britain.

Sean Conway swam up Britain's west coast from Land's End to John O'Groats.

He reached his destination at midday today, 135 days after starting on 30 June.

Sean is a seasoned adventurer, but this is the first time he's turned to swimming to get his thrills.

The journey took much longer than expected - 45 of those days were spent waiting for bad weather to subside.

Sean told ITV News he grew his "ridiculous" beard in order to avoid being stung by jellyfish:

Sean has swum 900 miles and estimates he has taken three million strokes since starting his adventure.

He is raising money for charity War Child, which helps protect children from the effects of conflict and rebuild their lives.
