Lily Allen has made her return to music by providing the soundtrack for the latest John Lewis Christmas television advert.

The cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know features in the animated story of a hare who makes sure his best friend the bear wakes up from hibernation to experience the magic of Christmas morning.

John Lewis' moving Christmas adverts have become synonymous with the festive season and this year's big-budget offering has been described as "the biggest advertising event of the year".

Debuting on on Saturday at 8.10pm, during The X Factor, the woodland tale cost £7 million to make.

Set in an idyllic woodland, the two-minute advert features hand drawn, Disney-esque creatures preparing for the festive season.
