Rubik's Cube World Champion untangles famous puzzle in just over seven seconds

Could you solve and untangle one of the world's greatest puzzles in just over seven seconds?

Well, an Australian teenager did just that to be crowned the 2013 Rubik's Cube World Champion.

Feliks Zemdegs battled his way through three intense days of 'speedcubing' competition in Las Vegas to scoop the gong and $3,000 in prize money.

The world's fastest cube solvers competed in more than 15 classic and non-traditional events, including blindfolded cubing.

17-year-old Zemdegs scored a fastest average time of 8.18 seconds for solving the classic 3x3 Cube and his fastest single solve was 7.36 seconds.

He also won the 4x4 and the One Handed 3x3 competitions.

The US topped the tournament's overall medal count with a haul of 14.

The bi-annual championship comprises of 17 events, with the finale being the crowning of the 3x3 champion.
