The royal family are tonight celebrating the birth of the third in line to the throne.

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a healthy baby boy, this afternoon, at 4.24pm.

The baby weighed eight pounds six ounces and Kate is said to be doing well, and will remain in hospital overnight, along with William. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are said to be delighted at the news, whilst Prince Charles said he was "enormously proud and happy."

In London where the baby was born and around the world politicians, celebrities and members of the public have been celebrating the news.
