Stabbed teenager brands attackers 'disgusting'
The 17-year-old who was repeatedly stabbed while on holiday with his family in Turkey has branded his attackers "disgusting".
Dwayne Ward, from Middlesbrough, suffered a punctured lung, pierced heart and a slash to the neck after being stabbed more than a dozen times.
The incident occured 10 days ago while Mr Ward was on holiday in the tourist resort of Marmaris.
Speaking to Daybreak, Dwayne Ward said he was initially unsure how severe his injuries were but now realises he is lucky to be alive, thanking the "best surgeon in Turkey" for helping save his life.
Two local men have subsequently been arrested in connection with the attack.
Recalling the attack, he said: "She was giving me a shot for every kiss and I remember having five kisses off her - there must have been five shots.
"Some of them (in the bar) were not happy with that. The last thing I remember is getting hit on the back of the head and I just blacked out for the rest of the night."
Mr Ward described the attackers as "disgusting" saying: "I was having a very good time.
"They just prey on young lads - and probably girls as well."
Mr Ward's mother Doris Ward described the incident as "a mum's worst nightmare", before warning other holidaymakers - particularly young men - to be wary of drinking shots in Turkey.
