John Paul II to become a saint 8 years after his death

John Paul the Second is to become a saint, the Vatican announced today, just 8 years after his death. He's being fast-tracked after a second miracle was attributed to his name. It's a move that will please many of the world's 1 billion Roman Catholics. But not those who criticise his handling of the church's sex abuse scandals.
