Brosnan recently appeared in the film Love Is All You Need, where his character falls in love with a cancer sufferer.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, he said: "I was fully aware of the notes within the piece that chimed with my own life, having lost a wife to cancer. Of course. That was part of the seduction of it, and the charm of it."
The actor added: "The road I have travelled means I can understand just about as much as one can understand such tragedy in life."
