New Celebrity Masterchef line-up revealed

Boyzone star Shane Lynch, boxer Joe Calzaghe and writer Janet Street-Porter are among the celebrities set to test their culinary skills in the upcoming series of Celebrity Masterchef.

Stars from the world of music, sport and acting will attempt to follow in the footsteps of previous celebrity winners Emma Kennedy, Phil Vickery and Lisa Faulkner.

The 16 celebrities set to compete include: entertainer Les Dennis, actors Ade Edmondson, John Thomson, Denise Black and Brian Capron, triple jumper Phillips Idowu, cricketer Matthew Hoggard, boxer Joe Calzaghe, writer and broadcaster Janet Street Porter, Jo Wood, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood, TV presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff, musicians Heidi Range and Mercury award winning rapper Speech Debelle, comedians Katy Brand and Shappi Khorsandi.

John Torode and Gregg Wallace will once again challenge the celebrities with tasks including preparing meals for the cast of Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall and Harlequins Rugby Union team.

The celebrities will take part in six challenges over two days which will determine who earns a place in the quarter finals.

The programme will take place across six weeks, with the first four weeks focusing on the heats. Two celebrities from each week will go through to the final two weeks.

Carla-Maria Lawson, the executive producer of the series, said: "In this series, the contestants' enthusiasm in their pursuit of the MasterChef trophy is palpable, often inspiring and sometimes very very funny."
