Royal visits to the United States
As Prince Harry arrives in the United States to begin a seven-day tour, we look back at other royal visits to the country:
1951: Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited Washington DC for two days in November 1951 as guests of President Harry Truman.
1976: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh made a State Visit to the United States in July 1976 for the US Bicentennial.
1985: The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the United States in November 1985. President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan hosted a gala dinner at the White House during their stay.
1991: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh made a State Visit to the United States in May 1991.
2005: The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall's eight-day tour of the United States in November 2005 included visits to the New Orleans, Washington and San Francisco.
2007: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh made a six-day State Visit to the United States in May 2007.
2009: Prince Harry paid a two day visit to New York on his first official overseas trip in May 2009.
2010: The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visited Ground Zero in New York and the British Garden at Hanover Square, which commemorates the British victims of the September 11 attacks, in May 2010.
2011: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first official overseas trip to Canada and the United States in July 2010 as a newlywed couple.
