Emma Watson recognised as 'phenomenal young talent' at the MTV Movie Awards

Harry Potter star Emma Watson told fans she was "honoured" to be recognised as 'phenomenal young talent' at the MTV Movie Awards.

The actress who turns 22 today, was awarded the Trailblazer Award, given to an actor who has managed to 'inspire others with a diverse portfolio of work and a transcendent reputation in the public eye'.

Accepting the award, she said:

After missing out at the Oscars, Bradley Cooper was awarded best male performer for his role as a bipolar man in Silver Linings Playbook.

Cooper and his co-star Jennifer Lawrence also won the award for best kiss for their clinch at the end of the comedy romance.

The awards, known as one of Hollywood's biggest youth-friendly ceremonies, saw Django Unchained actors Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson walk away with trophies for best "WTF moment" for the scene in which Foxx's character unleashes a volley of gunshots at Jackson's manservant.

Movie fans were also treated to a preview look of the second Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, ahead of its release in November.

The winners of the popcorn shaped trophies are chosen by fans, with voting for the movie of the year won by The Avengers, continuing throughout the two-hour ceremony.
