Baroness Thatcher's daughter Carol has spoken publicly for the first time since her mother's death to thank everyone who sent messages of sympathy and support.

At times emotional, she said her mother's death was "deeply sad" and that the next week will be "tough and tearful".

.Security for Wednesday's funeral is still being finalised - tonight there were scuffles in Trafalgar Square between anti-Thatcher protesters and police.
