This year's Comic Relief has raised a record £75.1 million so far, beating 2011's total of £74.3 million.

Red Nose Day stalwart Lenny Henry kicked off the live TV show and was followed by a plethora of singers, actors and comedians doing their bit for charity.

But some went further than others. Jessie J shaved off her trademark locks live on the programme, saying it was "the smallest thing I can do to give back to these people who need it so much".

David Walliams, Dermot O'Leary, Olly Murs and Louis Walsh tried to stop Simon Cowell's wedding to ... Simon Cowell, while Peter Kay completed his "Sit Down for Comic Relief" challenge after travelling on a sofa from Belfast to London.

One Direction performed the official Comic Relief single, a cover of Blondie's One Way or Another, with Louis Tomlinson revealing he had dyed his hair red for the occasion.

Miranda Hart took part in Miranda's March Madness, undergoing a series of tasks for Comic relief, including organising a dog show, performing a routine for Strictly Come Dancing and turning her hand to wedding planning.

And Ricky Gervais resurrected David Brent for the night, filming a special that showed what he is up to 10 years after the demise of hit show The Office.
