Council gritters' Elvis spoof becomes an online hit

Darren 'Graceland' Jones sings about gritting the roads with a worker from Torfaen Council.

A video made by council gritters detailing their battle with the snow has become a surprise online hit on YouTube.

In The Depot stars Elvis impersonator Darren 'Graceland' Jones' singing about the various trials and tribulations of clearing the roads along Torfaen, South Wales, to the tune of the Elvis classic In the Ghetto.

Filmed in just under an hour last Friday, when the severe weather forced road closures, the Elvis impersonator gave his time for free.

The video features him travelling through various snow covered local sites, singing about the tribulations of the teams of gritters working to make the roads safer.

The words of the 1969 classic have been changed from a biting social commentary on the vicious cycle of poverty, to advice on what roads and routes to avoid around the area:

A Torfaen Council spokesman said the reaction so far had been brilliant.
