Reports: Comic Jim Davidson arrested on suspicion of sexual offences

It is being reported that the comedian Jim Davidson has been arrested by police investigating the Jimmy Savile abuse allegations.

Davidson, 59, was allegedly one of two men arrested today on suspicion of sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree.

Police have been searching a house in Hampshire believed to be that of Jim Davidson.

Earlier today, the Metropolitan Police said they arrested two men on suspicion of sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree.

A 53-year-old man was detained in Hampshire this morning and a 59-year-old man in west London at noon.

Both individuals fall under the strand of the investigation termed 'others' and are not linked to Savile's offences.

More than 400 people have come forward with allegatiions against the late TV presenter Jimmy Savile

So far, officers have questioned 10 people of whom nine were under arrest at the time.

Some 589 people have come forward with information relating to the scandal, with a total of 450 complaints against Savile, mainly alleging sexual abuse.
