Blink and you'll miss it - enjoy the sun while it's here
I have been forecasting it all week and now the cold, sunny weather is finally here - but blink and you’ll miss it.
A cold pool of air that has been sitting to our north will finally plunge across the country during Thursday morning.
This means we will be greeted by frosty and, more importantly, sunny weather on Friday morning.
The welcome change will stay with us on Saturday before wet and windy weather returns by the end of the weekend.
My forecast:
Friday's weather sets us up for the weekend.
It will be much drier and brighter, but also a lot colder. Some wintry showers could be confined to northern or eastern areas.
Don’t get too excited, though - there's no need to dig out the sledges yet! Some snow will only build up across the Scottish Highlands and maybe even the North York Moors. Lower places will have just sleety showers and maybe hail.
Friday night is looking very cold, with a widespread frost. A word of caution: it could be icy in the North East of England where there have been any showers.
Saturday will be a cold but gorgeous sunny start. England and Wales will keep the sunshine with a few wintry showers in the East. Scotland and Northern Ireland will go downhill, though, clouding over in the morning before the winds pick up and rain moves in, possibly with some hill snow.
Sunday will stay windy in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but for much of England and Wales it’s another crisp day, so make the most of the sunshine. It won't last as the cloudy skies will return with patchy rain by the end of the day.
So grab your coats and scarfs and enjoy the sunshine while it's here.
By next week, we'll all be back under brollies and in our wellies! Good old Great British weather!
