Girls Aloud have reunited for a tour next year. The 12-date tour will open in Cheryl's Cole's hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne in February.

They also confirmed the release of their new single, Something New, on November 18.

This year marks a decade since they were put together by the ITV show Popstars: The Rivals and claimed their first number one with Sound Of The Underground.

Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw introduced the group, made up of Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, as "the defining UK girl group of the modern era."

Cheryl Coyle said she was delighted to be back together with the other girls, but they would "wait and see how the fans react" to their single before deciding what to do next. She said they had already achieved much more than they thought possible.
