YouTube sensation Psy may hit number one in UK charts with Gangnam Style
South Korean star Psy is set to spring a surprise in the UK charts this Sunday.
The video for the rapper's single Gangnam Style has been seen on YouTube over 230 million times and the song is number one on the UK iTunes chart.
The track, which is gaining momentum thanks to a peculiar dance, has had a surge in sales which could see it top the charts.
The Official Charts Company said it is 22,000 copies behind The Script and Will.I.Am's single Hall Of Fame, based on the latest data.
But sales of the South Korean's single, which features the star dancing as though he were riding a horse, have been rising by an average of 20% a day.
Sale figures put the track at number six today, with the song breaking into the top 40 last Sunday at number 37, four weeks after its release.
Psy, who is well-known in South Korea, taught American popstar Britney Spears his dance on US television show Ellen last week.
