Usain Bolt was the guest of honour at Manchester United's Premier League encounter with Fulham at Old Trafford today.

The charismatic Jamaican sprinter is a long-standing United fan and recently suggested he wanted to play for the club.

Although he wasn't allowed to play, he was presented with a Manchester United jersey with his name on the back and the number 963, representing the 9.63 seconds that he took to win the 100m final at the Olympic Games this summer.

After the match, Bolt tweeted this photo of himself in discussion with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the caption "Wonder what we discussing? Hmmm mmm".

So perhaps a last minute addition to the squad is in order after all.

Both will have been satisfied with the result as the home side beat Fulham 3-2. The team had been looking to get their season up and running after Monday's defeat at Everton.

But there was also disappointment when striker Wayne Rooney was carried off the pitch with a thigh injury after Fulham's Hugo Rodallega landed on his thigh while blocking a free kick.

Sir Alex Ferguson said he could be out of action for four weeks.

Usain Bolt made history at the London Olympic Games this summer when he became the only sprinter in history to defend both his 100m and 200m gold medals.
