Detectives seek to question last Fletcher suspect
Two detectives have visited Libya as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher.
It was very much an introductory meeting between the detectives and their Libyan counterparts.
They wanted to see where the common ground was and how they might work together.
Nobody is wanting to put too much gloss on this - it was very much a first step. The Metropolitan Police have always said that the file on Yvonne Fletcher, who was killed in 1984 at St James's Square, remained open.
In reality they really haven't been able to progress the case for a long time because under Colonel Gaddafi's rule - they weren't allowed to have visas to go into the country.
We knew that was changing just last month when the interim Prime Minister came to Britain and made a point of visiting St James's Square and the spot where she was killed. He laid a wreath - promising full cooperation would now be offered.
It's never been that much of a mystery who might have killed Yvonne Fletcher but just shortly after the murder happened - the enquiries that were carried out pinpointed three key suspects.
Two of those have died and one of them remains alive. He's a man called Matouk Mohammed Matouk, who is reportedly living close to Tripoli.
After the Gaddafi regime collapsed, he disappeared, probably not very surprisingly, and the authorities say that he is wanted.
Now the British Metropolitan Police are going to want to get to him to question him and possibly look at files that are relating to this period.
