The rain did not seem to ruin the day today. People have been queuing since last night, sitting in deckchairs and eating by the river, in order to get a good spot next to the Thames. The level of enthusiasm is high towards the event.

It is all over now, the Queen has left the royal barge in the last few minutes. She finished the event by watching the river pageant go by and listening to the Philharmonic Orchestra playing for her. The Queen also saw some fireworks.

She did not get a chance to see the flypast finale, because the cloud level was too low to allow that to happen.

And most, but not all of the hundreds of thousands of people that turned up today have now gone home.

Tomorrow is concert day at Buckingham Palace, where 20,000 people have been lucky enough to win seats for the concert in a lottery, and will be joined by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

On Tuesday will be the culmination with service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, as well as the carriage parade through the streets of London.
