Two Welsh tourists have been fined 1,000 Australian dollars for stealing a penguin during a drunken rampage in Queensland's Gold Coast, Australia.

After breaking into Sea World they swam with dolphins, let off a fire extinguisher in a shark enclosure, and left with Dirk the penguin.

Damon Green has this report:

21--year-old Rhys Owen Jones and 20-year-old Keri Mules, both from south Wales pleaded guilty to trespassing and stealing and keeping a protected animal.

The incident took place on April 14. They woke up the following day with Dirk the penguin in their apartment and tried to feed it and put it in the shower.

Police were called when they tried to release the animal into a nearby canal.

Brisbane magistrate said their actions were "stupid and immature."
