Street party and a special cake for Corrie star's 80th

Soap star Bill Roache has celebrated his 80th birthday with a street party on the set of the ITV1 show that has been his home for more than half a century.

The actor, who plays Ken Barlow in Coronation Street was presented with a cake inspired by the show's famous opening credits - a cat on a rooftop in Weatherfield.

His character has featured on the soap since its beginning in 1960.

Co-stars Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape), Andrew Lancel (Frank Foster) and Alison King (Carla Connor) were among the fellow stars who joined the birthday celebrations.
