Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt were reunited on the red carpet for the UK premiere of their new film Salmon Fishing In The Yemen.

The film, which has been adapted from Paul Torday's novel, sees McGregor tasked with the seemingly impossible mission of introducing salmon into the Yemen wadis by a sheikh.

He stars alongside Blunt, who plays the sheikh's representative Harriet.

McGregor and co-star Emily Blunt walked the sodden red carpet at the UK premiere of the film in Kensington, London.

Dozens of fans braved rain and sleet to get a glimpse of the stars.

29-year-old Blunt, who was sporting a navy Carolina Herrera dress and Christian Louboutin shoes, said: "He is awesome. I think many women were really jealous that I got to work with him for that long. He's swoon-able."

She added: "The movie has such heart so everyone worked really hard on it.

"It is an original story so everyone was relieved to work on something new and fresh.

"It is a really uplifting story and it was a lot of fun to do. It is a feel-good movie, it is hopeful and uplifting and it makes people feel something."

McGregor was equally as complimentary about his co-star, describing working alongside her as "fantastic".

He said: "She is a great partner to have in a movie. She is a lovely woman, she is funny. She has a wicked sense of humour.

"There is something very similar about the way we approach our work and we threw ourselves into the scenes. We didn't have a great deal of discussion about what we were going to do before the camera was rolling and I like that the best."

The film is released in UK cinemas on April 20.
