Forgotten glam rockers The Darkness have landed a prestigious support slot on the UK dates of Lady Gaga's world tour.

The reformed band, famous for their outrageous catsuits, will be performing on the European leg of the Born This Way Ball.

The band's frontman Justin Hawkins took to Twitter to announce the news:

The group, best known for the track I Believe In A Thing Called Love, won three Brit Awards in 2004 and had five top 10 hits.

They split in 2006 when Hawkins quit. He later revealed he had fought a secret battle with chronic drug addiction and alcoholism.

The band got back together last year.

Lady Gaga will be performing at Twickenham Stadium on September 8 and at Manchester Arena on September 11.

The worldwide tour is Lady Gaga's first since the release of Born This Way last year, which has so far sold nearly six million copies.
