Samantha Brick published her controversial article 'Why women hate me for being beautiful' in the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

Amid a growing public backlash the journalist appeared on the ITV This Morning sofa to give her side of the story, still adamant "women do not like attractive women".

After the article was published, over 4,000 response comments were posted to the Daily Mail website in one day, an unprecedented amount.

Samantha Brick has also been trending on Twitter in recent days, and there have been mixed responses to her article.

The Guardian's Tim Dowling wrote a satirical piece about how men hate him for being too handsome.

On Wednesday, Brick wrote a follow-up piece in response to the 'backlash' of her article.

She said the past 24 hours had been "the most horrendous of my life" and that though she knew her article would provoke debate she was surprised by its "volume and vitriol".

Brick also said that though she was "normally pretty thick-skinned but tears have welled in my eyes on more than one occasion".
