Former Manchester United footballer and French film star Eric Cantona has returned to the UK to attend the premiere of his latest action thriller 'Switch'. It sees the versatile 45-year-old actor play the role of Detective Damien Forgeat, on the trail of a young woman accused of murder.

While Cantona is no stranger to action on the pitch, doing all of his own stunts in his new role was equally exciting:

The star arrived with director Frederic Schoendoerffer, who were were joined by artist Dane Bowers, former boyband East 17 amongst others.

But it was only Cantona they were after.

Acquiring a rather large fanbase from all of his pursuits, the former footballer was subsequently 'mobbed' by over-excited fans. Thankfully, security managed to intervene and Cantona did not need to perform any real-life action scenes.

From Manchester United fans, to film buffs, Cantona is stilled hailed the 'king' by his Twitter followers.
