US President Barack Obama has nominated Dartmouth College president Jim Yong Kim to be the next president of the World Bank.

Current World Bank President Robert Zoellick is retiring from the post in June. Historically, the World Bank President has come from the US, while Europe has named the head of the IMF.

Kim is a physician and anthropologist who was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1959. His family moved to the US when he was five.
