The Wrath of the Titans aims to reinvent the Greek legends
Rosamund Pike, one of the stars of the Wrath of the Titans, says the crew and cast of this gods and monsters epic, felt free to learn from the strengths and weaknesses of their previous outing, the Clash of the Titans. The first film in the franchise, itself a remake, failed to smash the box office back in 2010 but now the stars are back undaunted according to Pike who plays Andromeda in the swords and sandals epic.
The film takes off a decade after Perseus, the demi-god son of Zeus, has heroically defeated the monstrous Kraken. Now he is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son Helius. Meanwhile in the heavens a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld. Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus' godly son Ares, switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned.
