Comedian David Mitchell is an ardent Twitter fan, but he took to more traditional methods of announcing his engagement to poker player and TV personality, Victoria Coren. The couple chose to take out a notice in The Times newspaper's Births, Marriages and Deaths column.

The notice in the Forthcoming Marriages section, under "Mr D.J.S. Mitchell and Miss V.E. Coren", read:

The Peep Show star appeared with Coren on BBC quiz show The Bubble back in 2010. Coren, who presents quiz show Only Connect, is a prominent poker player and writes and broadcasts about the game.

The pair later took to Twitter saying:
