Alesha Dixon launched a campaign against domestic violence on Daybreak this morning.

She has teamed up with Refuge and Avon to promote the "Pass it On" campaign to encourage women to stand up and speak out about the problem.

In the UK one in four women and victims of domestic violence the stigma attached often keeps the victim isolated and unable to seek help. Refuge are using social media to try and get people to speak out.

The Britain's Got Talent judge spoke of her personal experience of domestic violence.

Her mother was in a relationship with an abusive partner when she was growing up, and she said her mother's strength to leave was what inspired her to get involved to help other women do the same.
