An small American charity that campaigns to help victims of an African conflict has scored a viral hit on twitter.

Invisible Children released a thirty minute film about Joseph Kony, the leader of the brutal Lord's Resistance Army.

The film explains how a friendship forged between the Americandirector and a Ugandan child inspired the creation of the charity Invisible Children.

The intention of the film is to raise public awareness of the devastating brutality of the Lord's Resistance Army and the failure of the international criminal court to bring Kony to justice.

The film is accompanied by an e-action and petition to lobby policy makers and stars.

It has received celebrity endorsement from pop stars from the UK and abroad and #stopkony has been the top trend on twitter in both the UK and worldwide for most of today.

The film has been viewed over 4 million times since it was released 48 hours ago.
